Premedical and Other Health Professions Program

What are Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate and Other Health Professions Programs?

LMU's Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate and Other Health Professions Programs provide an opportunity for those who already possess a bachelor's degree in an unrelated subject to change their career path toward medicine and other health-related careers.

LMU offers these programs in the following disciplines: Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Veterinary, and Allied Health Professions. Graduates receive a certificate of completion.

Students admitted, for example, to the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program must have an undergraduate degree that does not include pre-medical coursework. An ideal candidate will be strongly motivated, and will have had sufficient experience in the medical field - either through volunteer work or previous employment - to make an informed, mature, and committed decision to enter the field of medicine.

What Do Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate and Other Health Professions Programs Do?

Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate and Other Health Professions Programs students enter into a 12-month period of intensive, full-time study in both the classroom and community. Upon completion, students are thoroughly prepared for the challenges of medical, dental, or veterinary school.

Each program has no more than 15 students, assuring participants of individual attention and support. Students work closely with members of the faculty in an academic environment that emphasizes mentoring, collaboration, and hands-on experience.

About Our Faculty

Our faculty members come from various LMU Departments. Our Health Professions Advisory Committee members come from Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics, Biology, and Natural Sciences backgrounds. Faculty members are experts in fields such as physical therapy and occupational therapy programs, neuroactive natural products, cosmology and HEP, models of athletics, quantum mechanics, fractal holography, genetic control of developmental processes, and certified athletic training.

About Our Students and Graduates

Our students earn internships that may help satisfy the volunteer hours required by many graduate programs. Pre-Physical Therapy students, for example, are required to do internship work in a physical therapy or occupational therapy setting prior to entering graduate programs in those fields.
