LMU Foreign Equivalencies

International Baccalaureate: LMU may award up to 6 semester hours (up to 8 for lab-based science courses) for higher level passes for which a student scores 5 or above.  Not all higher level examinations will yield advanced-standing credit

*GCE A Level Examination: 6 semester units for each non-science A level exam; 8 semester units for each science exam with a lab component.

*GCE AS Level Examination: half of the award for A levels.

*German Abitur: Up to 30 semester units distributed over the 4 final examinations: 9 semester units each for the 2 major exams and 6 semester units each for the 2 minor exams. Please note that final determinations about credit are at the college Dean’s discretion.

French Baccalaureate: high school equivalency for the general and technical baccalaureates

*Italian Matura: Under the old matura, 4 semester units for 4 specific subjects examined in the final year of studies.

*Swiss Maturity Certificate: 6 semester units each for those exams that carry double credit on the Federal Maturity certificate; possible undergraduate admission status for the cantonal maturity certificate.
