Theater Arts Audition Procedures

Theater Arts Program, Department of Theater Arts & Dance

Audition to the Theater Arts department is by submission of DVD and resume by mail. There are no live auditions held on campus, nor an online procedure for submitting your information. Procedures for Required Audition for Acceptance into LMU's Theater Arts Program include:

1. Theater Arts Audition Form (pdf)
2. Picture (optional) and résumé
3. DVD of your work to include:
   • 2 minute classical monologue- comedic or dramatic; Shakespeare or Chekhov;
   • 2 minute contemporary monologue-—OR—3 minute scene- comedic or dramatic but not the same as classical;
   • additional clips (1-3 minutes in length each) of previous performances at your high school or community theaters, if available;
   • for singers: 16 bars of up-tempo and 16 bars of ballad.
4. (Design/Tech students ONLY): Please submit a portfolio of designs, production photos and renderings along with a letter of recommendation from a Director or teacher/supervisor. Include the audition form and indicate N/A ("Not Applicable") where appropriate. 

Early Action Applicant DVD's due November 15, 2012; Regular Decision Applicant DVD's due February 28, 2013.

PLEASE NOTE: AUDITION DVD'S ARE REQUIRED TO APPLY TO OUR DEPARTMENT. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR NAME ON EVERY PAGE, PICTURE AND DVD YOU SEND. Please do not send LMU Admission documents including transcripts or letters of recommendation to the Theater Program, please send to Undergraduate Admission. THANK YOU.
