Cumulative Grade Point Average

Students who would have been eligible for admission as freshmen to Loyola Marymount University at the time of their graduation from high school will be considered for transfer if they have at least a 3.00 cumulative average for all previous college work and at least a 3.00 average for the most recent college work attempted prior to admission.

Additional Guidelines

Students who for academic reasons, were not eligible for admission as freshmen at the time of their graduation from high school will be considered for transfer standing if they have completed at least the equivalent of 30 semester hours of transferable college work with at least a 3.00 cumulative average , and at least a 3.00 average for the most recent college work attempted prior to admission.

Some majors, particularly those in the School of Film & Television, may require stronger records than the minimum 3.00 cumulative average generally required for admission consideration. Likewise, certain majors (i.e. business, sciences) require that some prerequisite courses be completed prior to transferring. Business applicants must complete a calculus/business calculus course that includes both differential and integral calculus with a grade of "B" or better to be eligible for admission.

Credit for work completed at accredited institutions, other than course work identified by such institutions as remedial or in other ways as being nontransferable will be accepted toward the satisfaction of baccalaureate degree and credential requirements at the University within limitations of residence requirements. Courses with grades below C (2.0) do not transfer. A maximum of 60 semester hours from two-year college(s) is transferable to the degree program of the University.

Policies regarding transfer credit may vary slightly among the individual colleges and majors, depending upon degree requirements. In general, courses comparable in content and depth with those in the LMU curriculum will transfer.
