Alumna Sara Rozul Soars at NBC Universal

Communication Studies alum Sara Rozul is working her magic as an Integrated Marketing Strategy Coordinator at Universal Studios Hollywood (NBC Universal) since leaving the bluff. The San Jose, Calif. native is responsible for helping drive park attendance through marketing, communications and sales efforts revolving around park attractions, most notably the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Sara previously interned with NBC Universal Entertainment and Universal Pictures through their Campus 2 Career Internship Program, and says that the experience and connections she made there were key in helping her land a permanent role within the company.

“As I was pulling away from the bluff following graduation and taking a photo of the LMU letters, I literally got the call from NBC Universal’s HR recruiter saying I had the job,” Sara said. “I feel incredibly lucky to be working where I am. There is a lot of room for growth there.”

Sara says that she really appreciated her College of Communication and Fine Arts (CFA) professors, as each brought their own unique perspectives into the classroom and made every class feel like a new and exciting experience. Likewise, Sara encourages students to seek out the services of LMU’s Career and Professional Development sooner rather than later, as she found their resources to be indispensable in her senior year.

“I think one thing that really stands out to me about LMU is just how many resources are available to students,” Sara said. “But what really makes students and aspiring professionals stand out is what one does with those resources. Be willing to step outside your comfort zone and see where they can take you.”

Originally drawn to LMU for its LA location and the opportunities available, Sara quickly came to think of the bluff as her home away from home. The Princeton Review echoes Sara’s sentiments, recently ranking LMU 19th for “Best Quality of Life” amongst its students.

Now that she is no longer on campus, Sara says she misses all of the relationships she formed while a student. LMU’s size gives Lions the unique opportunity to see people they know and care about just about every day.

Outside of her studies, Sara was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).

Looking to the future, Sara hopes to continue to rise the ranks at NBC Universal and is mulling over the idea of possibly pursuing her master’s degree in marketing.

As for what advice she has for new and incoming future Lions?

“Don’t sit back and just expect things are going to happen for you,” Sara said. “Be proactive!”
