We are excited that you are considering LMU. As one of the top comprehensive universities in the country, we are committed to helping students develop the knowledge and skills required to compete in the 21st century.

To apply for admission, submit the online Common Application, the LMU online Application, or the Coalition for Access and Affordability application. You may choose any of the three applications, and they receive equal consideration. Please do not submit all three.

LMU offers Early Decision (binding), Early Action (non-binding), and Regular Decision for first-year student applicants. 

  • Deadline for Early Action and Early Decision: Nov. 1
  • Deadline for Regular Decision: Jan. 15

For Transfer applicants, LMU offers Early Action (fall only) and Regular Decision (fall and spring entry):

  • Deadline for Transfer Regular Decision (Spring): October 1
  • Deadline for Regular Decision (Fall): February 1
  • Admission to LMU is selective. Academic record is the primary consideration. We take time to evaluate each application individually and consider not just what you have done in the past, but what your accomplishments suggest you will achieve in the future. 

  • Follow the instructions on your application.

    • Be sure to include the $60 application fee.
    • To request a fee waiver, please follow the instructions on the application you choose to use.

    Applicants to Animation, Dance, Music, Theatre Arts, and Production require a portfolio or audition. Please click on your area of interest for complete information:

    Submit a letter of recommendation with your application.

    This should be from an official at the last school you attended, preferably your counselor, a teacher, your principal, or the Dean of Students. One letter of recommendation is required.

    Send your official transcripts to Undergraduate Admission.

    All first-year applicants should submit official transcripts for all high school and college coursework completed. When fall term grades are available, use your application's mid-year report form and submit these. First-year applicants must all submit final high school transcripts before school begins, showing your high school graduation date.

    Transfer students must also submit transcripts from each college or university attended. 

    Loyola Marymount University has decided to waive the ACT/SAT requirement for students applying for the fall 2021 semester through the fall 2022 semester.

    This decision reflects the many canceled tests and the university’s commitment to our prospective students and their families during this time of uncertainty and stress. Please note that standardized test scores are NOT required for consideration for admission or for any of our merit scholarship opportunities - no student will be disenfranchised for not submitting standardized test scores.

    If you have already completed the ACT/SAT and would like to include your test scores as part of our admission consideration, scores must be submitted directly from the College Board (SAT) or the American College Testing Program (ACT), or may be self-reported on your application.

    Please note that November test results will not be received in time for Early Decision or Early Action consideration. October test results will be considered for Early Decision and Early Action if these are available and reported by November 1.

    Transfer students who have completed 30 transferable semester units are not required to submit standardized test results. 

    First-year applicants who opted to include test scores in their admission consideration and are admitted and choose to enroll at LMU will be required to submit official score reports issued by the appropriate testing agency. 

  • February 1 is the deadline for first year student applicants to submit the FAFSA. Early Decision applicants seeking financial aid must file the FAFSA by November 15. Please visit the Financial Aid website for more details.

  • Once you apply, you will receive instructions for logging into the LMU Application Portal where you can monitor the status of your application. You will also be notified when your application is complete. Please be aware that submitting documents through the Common Application is a two-step process. First, your school submits your forms to the Common Application. Then, we import them in to the LMU system. During peak volume periods, such as right around November 1 or January 15, this can take up to a week.
